I've created these graphics from direct observation and reconstruction of religious art using a variety of graphical applications and a lot of time. Some are made available with permission of the Aid Association for Lutherans/Lutheran Brotherhood.
The Symbol of All Saints

This image is the symbol for All Saints. It is taken from the parables in the book of Matthew, where wheat is used in the parable of the sower and tares among the wheat. In this symbol, the wheat is harvested and it is gathered into a crown that is surrounded with symbols of the Savior.

The shell is often used as the symbol for Holy Baptism. The 3 drops of water refer to the fact that a baptism is done "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

The Symbol of Holy Matrimony

This is the symbol for Holy Matrimony. The cross in this symbol is used to represent the Savior. It is shown to indicate His blessing on the union. The candles are used to symbolize the light of the new home.

This is the Church's symbol for Heaven. It is symbolized by the crown of glory, which is flanked by the palms of victory. Below it are the stars of heaven.

This shield is the symbol of Saint James. He is said to have traveled a great deal for the purpose of preaching the Gospel to many people. The scallop shell is a symbol for the traveler because it was used to scoop water to drink when he traveled. Other emblems for Saint James are the sword and the shell or a staff and a wallet. Sometime a staff and a hat or a staff crossed with a sword.

The shield is usually shown in blue, occasionally in red, and the scallop shells are usually shown in gold. The day of Saint James is July 25.
