This is the candlestick with seven branches. There are seven branches to signify the 3 of the Holy Trinity and the 4 main directions, North, South, East and West. Seven was therefore considered the perfect number because it represents all of heaven and earth. In addition, each of the seven candles represents a gift of the Spirit. These seven gifts are wisdom, counsel, understanding, knowledge, moral might, spiritual godliness and respect for the Lord. Larger Version - 173 x 225, 10K: Candlestick.gif |

This shield design is the symbol of Saint Andrew. He is said to have died on a cross shaped like an "X". Since the date of the first Sunday in Advent is always the Sunday nearest to Saint Andrew's day (November 30), this cross has become the emblem of the beginning and the end of the Church Year. In Silver on blue, it is the national cross of Scotland. Other emblems for Saint Andrew are the crossed fishes; the cross and the fish net with a boathook. The colors for the shield is always blue; the cross is usually silver but is sometimes shown as red. The day of Saint Andrew is November 30. Larger version - 417 x 548, 39.5K; saintandrew.gif |

This shield design is the Symbol of Saint Peter. The crossed keys are usually assigned to Saint Peter because of the word of the Lord to him in Saint Matthew 16:19. Other symbols of Saint Peter are the inverted cross; the crowing cock; and the church on a rock. The colors usually show the sheild in blue and the keys in gold. Sometimes one key is gold and the other is silver. Also, the sheild is sometimes in a brilliant red color as a sign of Peter's blood shed for the cause of Christ. Saint Peter's day is June 29.
